ASTM Level 1 disposable facemasks are medical-grade masks that provide protection against large droplets, splashes, or sprays of bodily or other hazardous fluids. They are designed to prevent the release of saliva, air, and dust particles and provide minimal protection against low levels of aerosols. They are made from a soft and comfortable material, usually non-woven fabric, and have ear loops or ties to secure them in place. The mask should fit snugly over the nose and mouth, without any gaps. The Altor plastic nose wire surgical mask is available for Level 1-3 and is designed to be used in a setting where metal is not acceptable. Typically, surgical face masks are manufactured with a metal nose wire to help keep the form and fit around your nose but in some situations like an MRI unit at a hospital it is not workable or safe for metal to be used. We have designed a mask with a plastic nose bridge, for situations that require no metal to be used, this is a great option. The plastic nosewire also still forms well around the nose and provides a great seal!
